How to Install a SecuroMesh Fence

Step by step

1. 0:001. The fenceA 2.1 m SecuroMesh fence with 76 × 12.7 mm mesh, on SecuroMesh T-posts.
2. 0:102. Materials, tools and PPECheck the panels, posts, clamps, fixings, timber stays and concrete before you start. Everyone on site wears a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and boots.
3. 0:253. Mark out the lineRun a string line along the fence line and peg every post position at 3,060 mm centre to centre.
4. 0:394. Dig the holesDig by mini digger and auger, or by hand. Each hole is 300 × 300 mm and 600 mm deep.
5. 0:555. Slopes and stepsOn sloping ground the fence steps down: halve the spacing to 1,530 mm and cut the panels to size with an angle grinder. Touch up every cut with enamel primer and matching paint.
6. 1:116. First panel and postStart on the ground. Clamp each panel to its own post with the pressed security clamps, then screw the clamps into the post with security tek screws.
7. 1:257. Fixing optionsSecurity tek screws go in with a drill (generator or battery). Cup square bolts with shear nuts are the other option: through pre-drilled holes, tightened by hand until the collar snaps off.
8. 1:458. Stand it upLay each panel-and-post set beside its hole. Lift the first set, stand the post in the hole, level it with soil or stones and brace it with timber stays.
9. 1:599. Carry on along the lineLift the next set, stand it in its hole and fix it to the panel that's already up. Brace it and carry on down the line.
10. 2:1710. Plumb and lineCheck each post is plumb and in line with the string. The 30 mm timber stays have a small cloth against the post so the coating isn't damaged.
11. 2:3511. ConcreteFill the holes with 25–30 MPa concrete, ready-mix or mixed on site, as the client requires.
12. 2:4912. Overnight, then stays offLeave the concrete to set overnight, then remove the stays.
13. 2:5713. Pedestrian gateThe gate comes as one unit, the leaf already hung on heavy-duty bearing hinges with the lock box fitted. Stand it in its hole, fix it to the last panel, line the lock post up with the lock box, then brace and concrete as before.
